History

The children's choir Žďáráček works under the Základní umělecká škola Františka Drdly in Žďár nad Sázavou, under choirmasters Mgr. Dana Foralová, Mgr. Pavel Schmidt and piano accompaniment Mgr. Nonna Piňosová

The choir was founded in 1973.

Choirmasters:

  • 1973 – 2000: PaedDr. Jiří Libra
  • 1973 -  1992: Mgr.  Jana Pospíšilová
  • 1998 – 2007: Mgr. Petra Kynclová (Procházková)
  • 2000 – now: Mgr. Dana Foralová
  • 2009 – now: Mgr. Pavel Schmidt

The Choir by age and vocal maturity:

  • Crickets I. (5 - 7 years)
  • Crickets II. (7 - 9 years)
  • The Preparatory Choir (10 – 12 years)
  • The Concert Choir (12+)

The choir was founded in 1973 by Karel Petráň, who was the head of the department for education MěNV in Žďár nad Sázavou. The founding choirmasters were Jiří Libra, the Headmaster of 3.ZDŠ and Jana Pospíšilová, a teacher. The choir had rehearsals regularly at this elementary school.

The choir moved to the music school of František Drdla in Žďár nad Sázavou in 1992. There has been regularly rehearsed Preparatory choir Crickets, which conducted from 1985 teacher of  the music school Libuše Rosecká. Later this department took over Jiří Libra.

Since 2008, the teacher of the II. primary school in Žďár, Mgr. Eva Šimurdová maintains both divisions of Crickets. Aside from these two departments in 2000 formed the Preparatory Choir. That was primarily led by Petra Kynclová, then by Dana Foralová and now by Pavel Schmidt.

In 2010 was based the civics association Žďáráček (now DPS Žďáráček, IB) on the promotion of cooperation with the ZUŠ F. Drdla, which takes care of  all the singers who are not pupils of the music school, the chairman of the association is Mr. Zdeněk Kyncl.

The choir regularly participates in festivals and competitions in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The choir performed at the national competition in Pardubice in 1993 and in Uničov in 1997. Žďáráček went abroad too - in 1975 and 1979 to the German Schmolln and in 2002 to the Sommacampagna in Italy.

Most important achievements of choir:

  • Gold level – The 3rd National competition, Nový Jičín, Czech Republic - 2000
  • Silver level - The International Festival of Academic Choirs, a Competition of Bohuslav Martinů Prize, Pardubice, Czech Republic
  • 1st place - Cum laude from International competition in Neerpelt, Belgium – 2004
  • 1st place – The International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Prague, Czech Republic - 2004
  • 3rd place – Llangollen, North Wales – 2005

The choir also regularly participates in the national show of children´s choirs “Light for Lidice” (in 2008, 2011, 2015).

Children's choir also made 3 CDs (in 2003, 2009, 2015).
